What is Pilates?
Pilates is a unique approach to fitness and rehabilitation using specialized equipment such as the Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac, Barrels and Mat. It is designed to bring your body back into healthy alignment and to teach you new postural habits so that you move freely without strain.
Pilates exercises are designed to develop a strong and balanced musculature, building a physical symmetry between the front and the back muscles. It works the muscles that hold us upright, namely the Powerhouse or our core which includes the abs and lower back as well as the deep muscles in the hips and the pelvis. A strong core stabilizes the spine, ensures a balanced center to support the body and liberates the limbs for better efficiency and flexibility.
